If you want all your files to share the same name except for a number, this method is the fastest possible way of getting that accomplished. Using this method, you can quickly rename a large number of files without having to individually select and choose the rename option on each one. When you’re done renaming the file, press the Tab button to move on to the next file. You can type in the new desired name for the file now.Check out our How To Use Function Keys Without Pressing Fn Key On Windows 10 article.( Tip : You can also select the first file in the folder and use the F2 key to enter the renaming mode.) Using the same menu on top of the File Explorer window, switch to the Home tab.Select the first file on the list using your mouse cursor.Click on the Details button to change your view mode. This will expand your window with a new section. Using the header menu located in the top portion of the File Explorer, click on the View tab.Open the File Explorer and browse to the folder containing the files you want to rename.Follow our step-by-step guide to rename up to hundreds of files at once. It can be done in File Explorer, but it requires some knowledge of how to operate your system. Luckily, Windows 10 natively supports batch renaming files. Rename multiple files using File Explorer Quickly rename files one at a time Let’s get started right away! What is Batch Renaming?īatch renaming refers to the process of renaming multiple computer files and folders in an automated fashion to save on time spend on renaming multiple files. In this article, we’ll be taking a look at how to rename files in a batch on Windows 10, using both built-in methods and a safe third-party tool. Instead of going through each file one by one, follow our methods to quickly get the task done. This most commonly happens when changing the extension of a large batch of files in a folder. However, things get more complex when you want to rename multiple files at once. Renaming a single file is quite an easy process.

If you need to restore your entire website and not just parts of it, this usually means you no longer have access to your WordPress admin dashboard. NOTE: If you only need to restore a single file or a limited number of files, use BackupBuddy’s New In-Dashboard Restore to restore plugins, themes, WordPress version and individual files. The system has many parallels to private certification systems I have documented in my research. This private certification program rates farming methods and gives a farm a Step 1 rating if it has “no cages, no crates, and no crowding” all the way a Step 5 if it has animal centered pasture farms. One popular program that one may have observed at Whole Foods and other meat counters is the Global Animal Partnership 5 Step Animal Welfare Rating Program. But At the Fork also shows how many consumers are now demanding more ethically sourced meat and dairy products. In a market economy, producers seek to supply whatever consumers ask for. The film shows how factory farming arose because of economic factors with consumers demanding lower prices. This whole idea that we have dominion over the animals, well yeah that’s fine, but dominion does not mean domination.” This rancher states, “I think it’s our moral obligation to care about these animals. In another, pigs and four other red meat species forage a forty acre forest. Another uses an outside system where pigs go between a barn during inclement weather and pastures otherwise. One particular pig farm uses gestation crates only for artificial insemination, then transfers pigs to open pens where pigs can move freely and socialize with each other. If I would not force a dog to live in a six by twenty inch cage, should I, as a consumer, demand that a pig be raised under such conditions? The film interviews animal scientist Temple Grandin who states, “It would be like living in an airline seat and I’m never allowed to walk in the aisle.”Ī nice aspect of the movie is its presentation of range of animal husbandry methods. When the film cut to a sweeping visual of pigs almost certainly enjoying themselves, at a free range farm, I started feeling guilty about having no idea about the conditions that these animals are raised. John asks, “So this is the price that they pay for me to eat my spare ribs?”Īfter showing some factory farms where pigs spend their lives indoors, the film shows farms with varying degrees of outside access to open pastures. Breeding pigs have multiple pregnancies per year so can find themselves in one of these crates for 10 months in a year and in slightly larger farrowing crates after giving birth. These crates are two foot by seven foot cages not big enough for pigs to turn around or fully lie on their side. Toward the beginning, they visit an animal sanctuary where John voluntarily locks himself in the equivalent of a gestation crate that most pig farms keep breeding pigs for the entirety of their pregnancies. While letting viewers reach their own conclusions about animal welfare or rights, the film raises many interesting questions. I appreciated that the film never showed anything close to gruesome, but bringing viewers close to the animals let viewers see aspects of how pigs, cows, and chickens for meat, dairy, or eggs live. The film shows a range of farms from factory farms that keep animals in close quarters, to free range farms. A Michael Moore style documentary this is not, either. The movie also interviews different farmers, ranchers, politicians, business people, and scholars with different perspectives. It is well edited, well-paced, and accompanied with a quality soundtrack including music from executive producer Dave Matthews. John narrates the film and at the beginning states, “So while I’m no animal activist, I am a filmmaker and the best way for me to honestly explore this issue is to hit the road and make a film about it.”Īt the Fork is beautifully shot with attractive visuals throughout. John is a meat eater and Lisa is not, and in this film they visit various farms to see how meat and dairy animals are raised and treated. Producers John Papola and Lisa Versaci, whom I know from their most excellent economics music videos, have produced a feature length documentary, At the Fork. John Locke and Immanuel Kant adopted such a perspective. Regardless of one’s position on eating meat, one can still care about not intentionally inflicting pain on animals, or care that they are treated in humane ways. But whether or not one believes animals have rights, libertarian philosopher Loren Lomasky once gave me the most succinct argument for caring about the welfare, at least some, of animals: “You wouldn’t put your cat in a microwave, would you?” But what if certain farm animals had intelligence and awareness levels in the same league as pets we care so much about? It turns out that pigs can master certain basic video game tasks that dogs and even monkey cannot, and they appear to be able to non-verbally communicate with humans or other pigs in much the same way as dogs. How are farm animals treated and should one care? For the record, I am not vegetarian and I follow something similar to a paleo diet high in animal proteins and fats. We capped it all off with an easy two-and-a-half mile out-and-back hike to Sperati Point, tramping through a diverse ecosystem of grasses and wildflowers bursting up in every direction. Given the fact that a full-grown bison cow can weigh 1,200 pounds, it was equal parts adorable and unnerving. Mothers were nursing their young in the road as my van crept past. The mood was tense.Īfter a 30-minute standstill, we were able to drive two miles per hour between the huge beasts, cautiously proceeding so as not to disturb them. To my right was a herd of enormous bison with bright, rust-colored calves sprinting across the road. But as I hugged the curves along the winding park road, I was abruptly met with a traffic jam. Though it was a busy summer weekend in July and visitors abounded, the place was still teeming with animals.īy lunch it was time to scoot over to the park’s less visited North Unit. At one point, I pulled over to hike the short but sweet half-mile Wind Canyon Trail, stopping to take in the dozens of distinct birdsongs fluttering about in the morning air. Meanwhile, in the distance, a group of wild horses ran right across the road as a coyote slunk out from a nearby ditch. A thundering coterie of chirping prairie dogs darted chaotically around the grasslands. Turning onto the park’s most popular attraction in its South Unit, the 36-mile Scenic Loop Drive, I was immediately met with more wildlife. I slept off my tussle with the rattler and woke up refreshed and ready to explore. But it’s important to note that his legacy is very controversial-he’s been legitimately criticized for his support of the Indian allotment system and the removal of Native Americans from their ancestral homelands. forever shifted the way the world would think about and protect its natural wonders. The 230 million acres of public land that Roosevelt helped create in the U.S. Theodore Roosevelt National Park was founded to commemorate the death of the conservationist president and to preserve a little-known corner of western North Dakota that first inspired his love of the outdoors. The park is full of big wildlife, from wild horses to bison (Emily Harrington) I just didn’t realize how close I would actually get. I’d heard that the wildlife sightings would be pretty outrageous amid this 70,448-acre expanse of rugged badlands cut through by the Little Missouri River. I nearly stepped on the rattlesnake, then recoiled, tripped, nearly stepped on it again, rolled my ankle, and ran back to my boyfriend, who was laughing at how flushed my face and chest had become. The OP is great and gets you super pumped, the ED is fantastic closure, and the insert songs in this show were just on a whole other level. Sound (10/10) - Another stand-out category for this show. It made horrifying scenes all the more horrifying and pleasant scenes absolutely delightful. Everything was fluid and distinct, even in busy light-show scenes, and the animation really managed to bring things to life. This is the kind of stuff you expect to see out of a movie budget. The lighting, the particle/water effects, the characters, the monsters, just absolutely top notch work. Outside of a few hiccups that are fixed in the blu-rays, the visuals are just absolutely stunning, as is to be expected from Studio Ufotable. is quite frankly the only way I can truly express how ridiculously beautiful the art and animation is for God Eater. There is one minor quibble I have in the 2nd last episode about Alisa, but the action pulls you along quickly enough that I could ignore it and continue to enjoy the show.Īrt (10/10) - Hoooooooolllyyyyy shit. It almost makes me want to bump up the story score. It is something this show actually did really well that many other apocalypse shows either ignore or stumble on inelegantly. I did really appreciate all the flashback scenes and explanations how how this all came about and the description of the monsters (Aragami?). It didn't fail particularly at anything, but didn't do anything exceptional either it just served as a familiar spring board for the viewer to get into It isn't anything we haven't seen before, just your standard monster apocalypse type fair. Story (5/10) - The story honestly wasn't that special. Let's take a look at the score breakdown quick to see where we end up. God Eater is one of those odd shows that starts out as kind of a slow burn for a few episodes at risk of losing you, but then goes from 0-100 real fast to grab you right back in. Only God Eaters stand between the Aragami and complete and total annihilation of the human race. The monsters continue to be born en masse while the remnants of humanity struggle to survive the night. Now, as one of Fenrir's greatest weapons, Lenka must master his God Arc if he is to fulfill his desire of wiping out the Aragami once and for all. One such God Eater is Lenka Utsugi, a New-Type whose God Arc takes the form of both blade and gun. To combat them, an organization named Fenrir was formed as a last-ditch effort to save humanity through the use of "God Eaters"-special humans infused with Oracle cells, allowing them to wield the God Arc, the only known weapon capable of killing an Aragami. They ravaged the land, consuming almost everything in their path and leaving nothing in their wake. Humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction following the emergence of man-eating monsters called "Aragami" that boast an immunity to conventional weaponry. It just writes information as a tag (generally APEv2). The original digital audio data remains untouched. That's why MP3Gain doesn't alter the file. Unlike other volume normalization methods, there's no need to decode and re-encode the audio file to implement ReplayGain. The Replaygain header is not supported by all players. There are many tools, either integrated with audio players or converters (foobar2000, MediaMonkey, Winamp, soundKonverter, etc) or as standalone apps (MP3Gain, VorbisGain, AACGain, etc.) that analizes files, per track or per album, and. Note that the advantage of using MP3Gain is that the global gain header for each block MUST be supported by all MP3 players, hardware or software. ReplayGain is an algorithm that, applied on audio files, allows the normalization of their perceived volume. This MP3 file will then play at the right volume in all players, whether or not they are Replaygain-aware. Since MP3Gain has adjusted the global gain field for each block to give the right volume, the volume adjustments in that Replaygain header will be small. MP3Gain also writes a Replaygain header which applies to the whole MP3 file. MP3Gain then writes to the global gain header of every block, adjusting them all up or down by the same amount in order to achieve those Replaygain values. MP3Gain determines the Replaygain values for the MP3 file. In addition to these global gain fields, each MP3 file can also have a Replaygain header which applies to the whole file, and which tells a Replaygain-aware MP3 player how loud to play that file. Each block has a global gain field which tells an MP3 file player how loud to play that block. Each block corresponds to a few milliseconds of music. c=24527&hl)Īn MP3 file is composed of many blocks of audio, one after the other. Here is a clear explanation about what MP3Gain does, extracted from an old thread of hidrogenaudio's forums (. MP3Gain works with mp3 files, but its implementation has certain particularities. There are many tools, either integrated with audio players or converters (foobar2000, MediaMonkey, Winamp, soundKonverter, etc) or as standalone apps (MP3Gain, VorbisGain, AACGain, etc.) that analizes files, per track or per album, and implement the volume adjustement level. The image above shows that all the songs. ReplayGain is an algorithm that, applied on audio files, allows the normalization of their perceived volume. Some songs may need a drop in volume to reach the target level, others may need an increase. You are confusing the concepts, but you're not totally mistaken. This application will be in charge, through a statistical analysis, to determine how loud the file sounds to our ears. ReplayGain just adds some information to the tags and only works on players that support it. MP3Gain is a free and open source program that is responsible for analyzing and adjusting our MP3 files to ensure that they all have the same volume. MP£ Gain actually alters the MP3 file so it's volume is the same on any device playing it. Blend extra zucchini scraps into hummus, smoothies, creamy zucchini soup, or use it to make the “ricotta” filling in this lasagna recipe. When you’re done making zoodles, you’ll likely have some scrap pieces left over. Or simply toss them with olive oil and lemon juice, fresh herbs, and Parmesan cheese. If I’m making lasagna, I bake until the zucchini is tender, but still has a nice bite. Don’t cook them any longer, or they’ll get soft and watery. I gently toss them with the other veggies and/or sauce for about a minute over medium heat, just until they’re warmed through. When I make zoodle recipes that also include sautéed veggies, I add the zoodles to the pan right at the end of the cooking time. Don’t! We like our regular pasta with a nice al dente bite, and the same goes for cooking zoodles! If you serve a warm sauce over the noodles, it will gently heat them through, so no actual cooking is necessary. If I’m making any of the first 4 types of zucchini noodles, there are two ways I like to cook them (or not): … Because lasagna noodles are noodles too! Use a sharp knife to slice your zucchini vertically into thin planks, and layer them into your next lasagna in place of the pasta. Make Lasagna Zucchini “Noodles” with a sharp chef’s knife. I love this option because you don’t need a fancy gadget. Make “Pappardelle” Zucchini Noodles using a regular vegetable peeler. I like the Benriner Mandoline because it’s small and easy to store.Ĥ. It’s easy to cut yourself on a mandoline. If you go this route, please, please, please be careful. I love having a mandoline on hand to cut vegetables like radishes, cucumbers, and cabbage into paper-thin slices, but you can use one to make zucchini noodles, too! Slice thin zucchini planks with the mandoline, and then use a sharp knife to cut those planks into fettuccine-sized strips. Make “Fettucine” Zucchini Noodles using a Mandoline and a knife. I replace my julienne peeler every year or so, depending on how much I use it.ģ. And in my experience, the peeler blades dull over time. It takes a little longer than spiralizing since it’s a more manual process. They all worked perfectly, so my choice is this OXO Good Grips one because it’s just $7. They’re also cheap! I tested out three types so that I could recommend the best one for you ( this one, this one, and this one). Julienned noodles are thinner and straighter than spiralized noodles, but they taste just the same! I love this option because julienne peelers are tiny, so they’ll fit in any drawer. The KitchenAid Spiralizer Attachment makes great curly noodles too. It’s also easy to clean and relatively small, so it’s easy to store. It clamps to the counter, so it doesn’t move around while you work. Of the countertop spiralizers I’ve owned, the Inspiralizer (pictured above) has been my favorite. Curly & long, they seem like a natural pasta substitute, but let me tell you – these fresh, vibrant veggie noodles can do so much more than sub in for spaghetti! Nowadays, spiralized zucchini noodles are easy to find at the store, but they’re so much better when freshly cut. It’s definitely worth the price (about $319, street). So, if you don’t mind setting focus manually, you should get a lot of good use from this glass. I did encounter a mild amount of purple/green fringing in areas of high contrast, toward the corners and edges. The lens is multi-coated, which, together with the lens shade, does an effective job of holding back lens flare. Diffraction sets in to soften the image at f/16 and is most pronounced at f/22. In fact, at f/5.6 to f/11, the lens delivers very respectable performance in terms of sharpness and contrast. From my tests, I strongly recommend to avoid shooting at maximum aperture (f/3.5) and instead stopping down to f/5.6, where you’ll see marked improvement. This optic includes an aspherical lens element to improve performance at larger apertures. Photos processed with a “grunge” preset in Unified Color’s HDR Express 2. This three-shot HDR shows all the tilting and distortion the lens has to offer, with a heavy emphasis on an excessive “leading line” effect. HDR fisheye? Why not, but you’ll have to enter the EV differences manually in whatever HDR software you use because the aperture setting does not record in the EXIF data. And the lens does not support rear-mounted filters. Obviously, this protruding element obviates the use of filters. Also be watchful of protruding branches and things of that ilk. It becomes very easy for a stray finger to brush up against it, despite the built-in petal-shaped lens hood. The physical construction of the front element is such that it protrudes rather obviously. When working at close shooting distances (notably 3 feet or less), maybe take a small tape measure along to more accurately gauge the distances-at least until you get the hang of it. I recommend that you manually set focus on the lens using the marked settings and rely on depth of field to compensate for minor errors. But I’ve found that the image doesn’t really snap into focus, making it difficult to distinguish what is sharp and what’s not. In theory, you can manually focus the lens by way of the camera’s optical viewfinder-and the focusing ring operates very smoothly toward that end. Second, the lens does not support autofocusing. Note the odd shadow form, one of the more interesting effects of a super-wide. This image was cropped vertically, but there was no way to avoid the contrast-reducing effects of glare, even with the lens shade on. Shooting a super-wide means you have to always be aware of the sun’s position. You would do best shooting in aperture priority mode (for reasons outlined below). First, the lens is equipped with a chip that supports autoexposure.īut for that to work properly, you must manually set the lens to f/22 (there are marked positions on the lens). This lens is quite easy to work with, provided you keep a few things in mind. So, if you’re going to shoot with a fisheye, learn to love it for what it is and does. While eliminating the barrel distortion, software corrections tend to stretch shapes out of proportion, especially toward the frame edges, while restoring some semblance of spatial reality. That’s something you lose when you attempt to correct this optical phenomenon with software. Distances may appear stretched, but proportions of shape remain true. Despite the most profound barrel distortion, objects captured with a fisheye retain a certain sense of reality. Many cameras try to emulate a fisheye with a special effect, but only manage to bend the image out of shape. My tests were conducted using the Nikon D300.Ī real fisheye lens has no equal in terms of the perspective it affords. Other versions are available for other “cropped-sensor” interchangeable-lens cameras, including Micro Four Thirds. The APS-C version provides a 180-degree field of view. The lens I worked with is designed for the Nikon DX (APS-C/cropped) sensor. The Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens is of the diagonal type, delivering a rectangular image with cropped-sensor lenses. There are two types of fisheye: circular and diagonal. |
